Rackspace Cloud 1.0 Released
It’s out in the App Store now, so try it out and let me know what you think! I’m already well under way with version 1.1.

Thank You for this App, really needed. The only issue at this time is the Launch of SSH Client does not work. iPod Touch (1G) v3.0
Congratulations, Mike! Well done.
Does this help you manage cloud sites as well or only cloud files and cloud servers?
@Jay: oops! that wasn’t supposed to be in that build! it’ll be working on the next update to the app.
@Seth: thanks
@Shade: this app is currently only for cloud servers and files. when/if cloud sites is added to the API i’ll add support to the app
Any plans to be able to open/view files in Cloud Files from the app, i.e. using Appleās default doc/xls/pdf/photo viewer?
Yes, I’m working on that now and it should be available in version 1.1 or 1.2.
When will SSH be supported? I just ran into support issues with Rackspace Cloud. They had no idea what I was talking about until they did some research and sent me to this page. Man I made an ass of myself.
Sorry about that. SSH support will be straightened out for the first update.
Also can you and Rackspace agree to who supports this product? From a consumer’s end it looks like Rackspace should but from Rackspace’s point of view it is a 3rd party product.
Thanks Mike, great product so far! I am impressed. Very polished!
I am really looking forward to the file downloads and viewing. Where would the files be stored for later synching at the dock?
When I submitted the app, I entered iphone_apps@rackspace.com as a support email address, but perhaps that’s only exposed to Apple. That email address is a mailing list that I’m a part of. I’ll talk to them more about making sure the regular Rackspace support is aware of any issues with the iPhone app.
And thanks for the compliments
As for Cloud Files support, I’ll add the ability to view files, but downloading and syncing won’t be possible (sync in iTunes isn’t supported in the SDK)
I emailed the word “subscribe” lets see what happens.
550 5.1.1 … User unknown
Okay well I guess I was wrong… I’ll get the right address. Either way, I’ve talked to Rackspace Support and now there’s an open line of communication on issues.
Who do i speak to for support and upgrade updates?
As I understand, Rackspace support should be able to help with iPhone questions in the future. You can also email me at any time and I’ll be happy to help out. As for upgrade updates, I’ll be regularly blogging about them here. If you want to stay up to the minute on update progress, you can follow the GitHub project. Right now I’m focusing on viewing Cloud Files and fixing the SSH issue for the 1.1 update.
I do not have a jailbroke phone. I do have a phone in developer/test mode. Will these files be compatable to my developer ID?
You can build the app in the simulator, but to build it for an actual device, you’ll need to be a member of the Apple Developer Program. (Which is $99)
I am a member of the ADP. I am just not sure if your code build would be compatable with my ID.
All you’d need to do is change the Bundle Identifier in the Rackspace-Info.plist file to one of your App IDs.
