Slicehost Pro - Version 1.1 Update

I’ve had a lot of great feedback from people using Slicehost Pro, and I greatly appreciate it!

Here’s what I have done for the v1.1 update:

  • Set API keys by tapping a slicehostpro://your-api-key link
  • Show multiple IP addresses in the Slice view
  • Better error notifications (including authentication and network errors)
  • Make DNS Record Types selectable rather than a text box
  • Sort Slices, Zones alphabetically in the list view
  • Group DNS Records by Record Type (A, CNAME, etc)
  • Cache data and only hit the network when necessary

Here’s what I need to finish before submitting v1.1 to the App Store:

  • Polish UI when adding an API key via a slicehostpro://your-api-key link (this is proving to be kind of tricky for me at the moment)
  • Show errors if flavor or image names can’t be loaded in the Slice view
  • Add help text about setting API keys via a URL

There’s more in the works that I was planning to get in v1.1, but I want to go ahead and get an update submitted soon. Here are the tentative plans for v1.2:

  • Add and delete Slices
  • Modify Slices (to the extent that the Slicehost API allows)
  • Ping your slices

I’d also like to provide more info about the Slices, such as CPU usage, etc, but that info is not currently available in the API. If/when it becomes available, I’ll add it to the app :)

I also have submitted a free version, but it is still in the App Store review process.

Hey Mike, I installed the update today and now it just crashes on launch. Any suggestions?

Ben, I haven’t seen that behavior or heard of anyone else having that problem. I’ve tried every variation of the settings that I can think of… :\

As a last resort, I would suggest rebooting your phone, because another app may have leaked so much memory that the Slicehost Pro app can’t fully start. Send me an email at greenisus@gmail.com and we can keep discussing.

Feel free to delete my comment Mike. Apparently my phone was royally screwed as nothing would load. It was completely unrelated to updating your app. Great work BTW!
